TEN years of marriage!!! Wow, amazing! To celebrate, just Greg and I headed to our honeymoon destination to spend 3 nights, 4 days. In the days leading up to our trip, this became Will's mantra for how long we'd be gone...not because he was going to miss us dreadfully, but because that's how long B would be staying with them without interruption! He was in heaven to have a grandmother with him for that long, in fact all the kids were! We were so very excited to have this time away, to relax, sleep and just be together. It was INCREDIBLE to be able to finish conversations, take off our watches and be unaffected by the time of day or a schedule, and just enjoy the beach and each other and the 10 unforgettable years we have had together! Over the course of the 3 nights (and 4 days :-)), we slept a total of 36 hours! We needed it, to say the least. Looking back on the trip, the very first margarita we were given as we checked in was definitely the best (but probably no different from the others we had during our stay!) and we, of course, talked about the kids lots too! As much as we love to travel and as hard as it is to do it with kids, this trip helped us realize how thankful we are that we make travel as a family a priority!
For me, it was the perfect length of time to be away especially with RJ so little...we were both READY to see them when we got home! We walked in after dinner, the boys were still in their pj's from the night before and had so many stories to tell us they could hardly contain themselves. RJ was in her exersaucer and seemed like she had gained inches and pounds while we were gone. Just to ensure she hadn't, I found myself weighing her on the baby scale we have within the first 30 minutes we were home (I only missed about 4 ounces of growth...whew!). I definitely squeezed them tighter and held them longer...and read them a few extra stories too!
Thank you thank you Mom (and Dad) for making our time away possible and for loving on the kiddos so much while we were gone. For the record, RJ didn't do great at night but B handled it like a champ and somehow I was able to let go of worrying about that (something I definitely could not have done with Will and probably not with Grady either)! It's just amazing how God equips us to handle just as much as we can, nothing more! No trips without kids on the horizon, but whenever it does happen again, one thing is for sure it will just get easier for the ones keeping them!
