Hump Day

We celebrated getting half way through the first week by Will inviting me to eat lunch with him today!!! I tried to find a place for G and RJ to play while I went alone but no such luck. So...we all trucked up there at 10:25. Can you believe they eat so early?! One blessing about it is that I don't worry too much if he doesn't finish all of his breakfast! Special request for our lunch date? For Will to buy his lunch!!! So we checked out the menu last night and he picked out the scrumptious delicacies of spaghetti with garlic toast, mexican rice, apple slices, and chocolate milk. A little heavy on the starched but that's ok. He went through the line and entered his code all by himself and even carried his tray to the table too. I was impressed. The children he sat next to were so sweet, polite and looked me in the eye when they spoke to me...quire a feat for 5 year olds! They enjoyed Grady and RJ being there too. We were out of there by 11 and Will was off to recess.

When we discussed my coming to lunch today, I told him the rule was he couldn't get sad when it was time for me to leave. He looked at me with a confused look on his face and said "why would I get sad?" Not wanting to plant an uneeded seed, I said, "You're right, there's nothing to be sad about you have the whole rest of your day at Kindergarten!" He quickly agreed.

When it was time to leave, I told him we were going to head on and to go ahead an tell me goodbye...he said "ok, goodbye."

That was it.

So glad I went...so thankful he's adjusting so well!
